Nissan's upgraded Charge app unlocks 1M+ European charging points

Nissan has teamed up with Octopus Energy to launch a new version of its Nissan Charge app. The update aims to simplify electric vehicle charging by integrating Octopus's award-winning platform. Drivers will now have access to over a million news points across Europe.

The upgraded app connects users to more than 1,200 charging operators, including major brands like IONITY, Allego, Aral pulse, and TotalEnergies. It also adds around 500 new chargers to the network every day. Real-time availability, dynamic pricing insights, and filtering options make the experience faster and more intuitive.

Payment is streamlined with support for Google Pay and Apple Pay. Exclusive pricing deals are available through participating networks, helping drivers cut costs. Future updates will introduce Plug & Charge (PnC) for hassle-free public news and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology to lower home charging expenses.

The app is part of Nissan's broader plan to integrate public news into its MyNissan energy and mobility platform. Soufiane El Khomri, Director at Nissan Energy, called it a key step in making electric driving easier. Matt Davies, Director at Octopus Electroverse, also highlighted the benefits of combining Electroverse's technology with Nissan's app.

In Germany alone, the app currently provides access to 163,990 charging points via the Chargy network. A full breakdown of public versus private stations across Europe has not yet been released.

The new Nissan Charge app offers drivers a smoother, more cost-effective way to charge their electric vehicles. With expanded access to charging networks and upcoming features like V2G, the update aligns with Nissan's push for seamless electric mobility. The partnership with Octopus Energy strengthens the app's capabilities and user benefits.
