Tönisvorst seeks its next Apple Queen to champion orchard traditions

Tönisvorst is looking for a new volunteer Apple Queen to represent the town for a two-year term. The role is supported by local fruit-growing businesses and comes with responsibilities tied to the region’s strong orchard heritage. The town is known as the Lower Rhine’s largest orchard area, with around 400,000 fruit trees. It is especially famous for its Königsapfel, or King’s Apple, variety. Nina I (Bones) currently holds the title for the 2024–2026 period.

The Apple Queen’s duties include promoting healthy eating and environmental projects like bee conservation. She will also serve on juries and attend events as an ambassador for Tönisvorst. Applicants must have a strong connection to nature, enjoy working with people, and embrace the town’s identity as an ‘Apple City’.

Those interested have until July 31, 2026, to submit their applications. The new Apple Queen will take on a visible role in the community. Her work will highlight Tönisvorst’s fruit-growing traditions and support local environmental efforts. The position remains open to volunteers who meet the criteria.
