Baking With Ish blends Filipino flavors with LA's food scene at Blossom Market Hall

Ishnoelle Richardson and his husband Jeff launched their stall, Baking With Ish, at Blossom Market Hall in San Gabriel in April 2023. The menu features a mix of savoury and sweet dishes, including fried chicken and waffles. Their offerings reflect Ishnoelle’s culinary background and creative approach to food. Born in the Philippines, Ishnoelle moved to the US as a teenager. He later trained at Le Cordon Bleu and gained experience in various Los Angeles restaurants before starting his own bakery. His stall now serves dishes like fried chicken and waffles, with the latter made from Sonora wheat and spiced with cardamom and cinnamon.

The fried chicken is seasoned with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and MSG. One standout item is the fried chicken sandwich, served on a brioche bun with Mornay sauce, garlic and chile oil, pickled onions, and potato chips. Breakfast sandwiches, however, are only available until 11 a.m. or until supplies last.

Ishnoelle has plans to expand his menu. In the future, he aims to add more sandwich options and produce his own longanisa. He also intends to introduce a rainbow cake for Father’s Day to mark Pride Month in June. Baking With Ish has quickly become known for its flavourful dishes and limited-time specials. The stall’s growing menu and seasonal offerings are set to attract more customers. Ishnoelle’s experience and passion continue to shape the stall’s evolving selection.
