Dreams Experience Academy Expands Career Training for Underserved Texas Youth
Dreams Experience Academy (DEA) is expanding its programme to new schools in Texas. The organisation trains underserved youth in grades 7–12 for careers in music, media, entertainment, and technology. Its growth reflects a broader push to scale its model and impact more students. DEA currently operates at For Oak Cliff and will now extend to St. Philip’s School and two Texans Can Academies. Its curriculum blends creative production, digital media, technology, entrepreneurship, and social-emotional learning. Students focus on four key areas: game design, music, the creator economy, and AI software development.
The academy’s pilot programme saw a 27-percentage-point rise in student interest in game design careers. Expert guidance comes from academic leaders at NYU Tisch School of the Arts and Howard University’s Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts.
Beyond education, DEA is building a student-led services business to provide creative and tech solutions to Fortune 1000 brands. Support for this expansion includes partnerships with the Dallas Regional Chamber and the T.D. Jakes Foundation. The next phase prioritises operational execution, institutional adoption, and scaling its approach. DEA’s growth relies on philanthropic, corporate, and community collaborations. The academy’s structured training and real-world projects aim to prepare students for industry careers. Expansion to new schools marks a step toward wider accessibility and impact.
