Uttar Pradesh launches 'poison-free food' drive to boost organic farming
Uttar Pradesh is set to launch a 'poison-free food' campaign to promote organic produce. The initiative will connect farms directly to consumers, ensuring fair prices and better income for farmers. It forms part of a broader push for rural development and public health. The UP Go-seva Aayog has designed a 'Farm to Consumer' model for the campaign. This system will deliver grains, fresh vegetables, fruits, and Panchgavya-based products straight from farms to families. The focus will be on natural farming methods to guarantee chemical-free food.
Gaushalas, or cow shelters, will act as key distribution hubs. They will supply medicinal products, Panchgavya ghee, pure milk, and other organic goods. Initially, the campaign will serve families living within a five-kilometre radius of selected gaushalas.
The initiative also aims to create jobs for rural youth. Opportunities will arise in food processing, packaging, and marketing. By linking cow protection, natural farming, and local energy projects, the campaign seeks to boost rural livelihoods under one unified plan. The campaign will start in areas near gaushalas across Uttar Pradesh. It promises to provide pure food while supporting farmers and rural communities. The model could expand if successful in its early stages.
