Uttar Pradesh launches 'Sambhav 6.0' to fight maternal and child malnutrition statewide

The Department of Child Development and Nutrition in Uttar Pradesh has launched the 'Sambhav 6.0' campaign under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The initiative aims to tackle maternal and child malnutrition while improving nutrition security across the state through a structured, life-cycle approach. Sambhav 6.0 adopts the theme ‘Nutrition Security from Pregnancy to Childhood’ and focuses on pregnant women, lactating mothers, newborns, and young children. A detailed action plan has been developed in partnership with ICDS, the Health Department, Panchayati Raj Department, UNICEF, and other development agencies.

Micro-plans have already been distributed to all divisions and districts to support training on the campaign’s goals and execution. Special Nutrition Learning Centres, known as Poshan Pathshalas, will be set up statewide to teach families about balanced diets, infant care, and maternal health.

The campaign will officially begin at the district level in July 2026 during District Nutrition Committees’ meetings. Progress will be tracked through weekly report cards and bi-monthly state-level reviews until September 2026. A preliminary assessment of the campaign’s impact is scheduled for the last week of October 2026. An independent evaluation will be carried out by the Planning Department to review the outcomes. The initiative seeks to create lasting improvements in nutrition services from conception to early childhood.
