Baltic Cuisine Shines as Latvia and Lithuania Earn Historic Michelin Stars
The latest Michelin Guide has brought new recognition to Baltic dining. Lithuania and Latvia have both seen their restaurants earn prestigious awards. For the first time, a Latvian establishment has received a Michelin star.
Latvia now has two Michelin-starred restaurants. Max Cekot Kitchen became the country’s first to earn the honour. John Chef’s Hall also secured a star, marking a significant milestone for Latvian cuisine.
Lithuania received five Michelin stars in total. The awarded restaurants include Deep Roots, Red Brick, Demo, Diaugsmas, and Nineteen18. These venues join a growing list of 44 Lithuanian establishments featured in the Michelin Guide. Nearby, Estonia has 43 restaurants recognised in the same guide. While none have yet earned stars, the country’s culinary scene continues to gain attention.
The new awards highlight the Baltic region’s rising reputation in fine dining. Latvia’s first Michelin star marks a historic moment for its food industry. Meanwhile, Lithuania’s five-star total reinforces its position as a destination for high-quality cuisine.
