Yakutsk's Top Hospitality Talent Shines in Annual Skills Showdown

Yakutsk held its annual citywide professional skills competition on October 26–27. The event showcased talent from the local hospitality industry. Contests included Best Chef, Best Waiter, and Best Bartender categories. The competition was organised by the Yakutia Hospitality Association, with support from the Yakutsk Technological College of Service. Participants came from leading restaurants and cafés such as Makhtaal, Vyshka, and Bely Les.

Alexander Nikolaev from Bely Les country complex took first place in the Best Chef contest. Dmitry Sleptsov from Avrora restaurant won the Best Waiter title. Kirill Nogovitsyn from Kare restaurant was named Best Bartender.

Many contestants were young professionals early in their careers. Some lacked formal training and hesitated to join due to strict requirements and limited experience. Tatiana Tymyrova, chair of the Yakutia Hospitality Association, highlighted a shortage of skilled workers in the industry, worsened by the pandemic. The event provided a platform for emerging talent in Yakutsk’s hospitality sector. Winners were recognised for their expertise in their respective fields. The competition also drew attention to ongoing challenges in workforce development.
