Krasnodar's food prices shift: Butter and olive oil drop while margarine spikes

Food prices in Russia’s Krasnodar region have shown mixed trends. Some products have become more expensive, while others have seen significant drops. The latest data highlights changes in the cost of margarine, butter, and olive oil. Butter prices in the region fell by 5.9% in May 2026 compared to the same month last year. Despite this decrease, the average price remained high at around 1,000 rubles per kilogram, or 107 rubles per 100 grams.

At the same time, margarine became more expensive. Its price rose by 8.1% to reach 305 rubles per kilogram. Olive oil, however, saw the sharpest change with a 14.3% drop, bringing its price down to 1,300 rubles per litre. The shifts in pricing reflect varying market conditions for different fats and oils. Consumers in the region now face lower costs for olive oil and butter but higher expenses for margarine. The changes took effect in May 2026.
