Magadan's Friendship Festival Unites Cultures Through Food and Tradition

Dukcha Park in Magadan Oblast hosted the Territory of Friendship Festival on June 12. The event celebrated the region's cultural diversity by bringing together people from many ethnic backgrounds. Representatives of different cultures and communities gathered to share their traditions. The festival opened with performances by creative ensembles and national cultural associations. Their shows highlighted the unique heritage of each group through music, dance, and other artistic expressions.

Themed zones were set up across the park by public organisations, veterans’ groups, youth movements, and military history clubs. Visitors explored these areas while enjoying dishes from Russian, Ukrainian, Georgian, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Uzbek, Buryat, Tatar, Bashkir, Kyrgyz, German, and Indigenous North kitchens. Food stalls offered a wide variety of traditional meals.

Both children and adults took part in workshops and interactive activities. A souvenir fair also gave attendees the chance to purchase handmade crafts and keepsakes. The Territory of Friendship Festival showcased the traditions of many peoples in one event. It provided a space for cultural exchange and community engagement. The day’s programme ensured a lively and inclusive celebration for all ages.
