Cyber Peace 2025 unites leaders to protect children in the digital age

Cyber Peace 2025 took place in Hanoi following the Hanoi Convention 2025 and the 'Not Alone - Together for online safety' campaign. The event brought together government representatives, UN organisations, and schools to address child safety in the digital world. Organised by Wellspring Hà Nội International Bilingual School, the event saw wide participation. Attendees included the Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education and Training, and other key ministries. UNICEF, UNDP, and IOGT Việt Nam also joined, alongside representatives from over 45 schools.

Students played a central role in the discussions. An art performance marked the opening, while a debate showcase explored solutions for online protection. The WISMUN simulation allowed students to role-play as delegates tackling digital divide and child safety issues in developing countries.

Nguyễn Vĩnh Sơn, Principal of Wellspring Hà Nội, highlighted the need for three layers of protection: technology, skills, and strong connections between family, school, and society. Vũ Kim Chi from UNICEF Việt Nam warned that digital transformation, while beneficial, exposes children to risks like data leaks, harmful content, and cyberbullying. Representatives from Vietnamese ministries and UN bodies pledged to strengthen cooperation in safeguarding children online. The event emphasised student involvement in shaping a safer digital future. Cyber Peace 2025 reinforced the importance of collective action in addressing online risks for children.
