2026 Economics Editors Conference Breaks Records in Beijing
The 2026 Editors-in-Chief Conference in Economics took place at Beijing Jiaotong University from May 25 to June 9. This year’s event marked the sixth edition since its launch in June 2021. The theme was ‘Publishing China Research in Top Journals: Insights from Global and Chinese Editors’ The conference was jointly organised by the School of Economics and Management at Beijing Jiaotong University and Elsevier. It aimed to boost academic dissemination, international scholarly exchange, and innovation in publishing.
Two main parts made up the programme. The Editors’ Plenary Session on May 29 featured five editors from leading journals. Six specialised editor seminars ran between May 25 and June 9, each focusing on different areas of economics.
Attendance soared compared with the previous year. Registrations rose by 21%, while actual attendance jumped by 78.6%, reaching 28,576 participants. Guests and attendees praised the event for its professionalism and focus on cutting-edge research. The conference concluded with strong engagement and recognition. Its expanded reach and structured sessions reinforced its role in advancing academic publishing. Organisers noted the event’s success in fostering global and Chinese collaboration.
