Vietnam's First Phở Museum Celebrates a National Culinary Icon

The Phở Museum in Hồ Chí Minh City has opened as the first private culinary museum in Việt Nam. It focuses entirely on the history and cultural significance of phở. International visitors and diplomatic delegations have already shown strong interest in its exhibits and stories. The idea for the museum came after a visit to the Ramen Museum in Yokohama, Japan. Its creators wanted to give phở the same global recognition. They faced hurdles with licence registration, gathering artefacts, and shaping the museum’s narrative.

The exhibits highlight phở’s role in Vietnamese heritage. Stories passed down from elder artisans to younger generations bring the history to life. The museum also emphasises the value of slowing down to enjoy street culture and culinary traditions.

Every six months, the displays change to offer a fresh perspective on phở’s evolution. Local artisans and authorities provided key support during development. Plans are now in place to expand partnerships in the future. The Phở Museum aims to secure phở’s place on the world’s culinary map. It has already begun hosting diplomatic visits and attracting global attention. The rotating exhibits ensure visitors can explore the dish’s rich history in depth.
