Augsburg Celebrates Queer Life with Month-Long Diversity Festival
Augsburg is launching a cross-media event series from 13 June to 19 July. The programme aims to highlight queer life in urban spaces and promote diversity across the city. It is a joint effort by the city and partners from religious, social, and civil society groups. The series kicks off on 13 June with an ecumenical Pride service. A professional workshop follows on 18 June, and a guided tour is scheduled for 28 June. Other key events include a live podcast on 6 July, a community meetup on 8 July, and a closing event on 15 July.
A photo exhibition will run from 1 to 31 July at Mühle Dreizehn. The full programme also features readings, expert workshops, and guided city tours. Participants include Queer-Sensitive Pastoral Care of the Diocese of Augsburg, Moritzkirche City Pastoral Care, the Protestant Forum Annahof, and AWO Schwubis, a local LGBTQ+ group.
The city’s Office for Gender Equality helped design the series. Some events require online registration to attend. The series seeks to create spaces for connection and exchange among different social groups. It forms part of Augsburg’s broader push to make diversity more visible in daily life. Organisers hope it will foster greater openness and respect across the community.
