ATEX Malaysia 2026 debuts as Southeast Asia's new textile and apparel hub
ATEX Malaysia 2026, the first Apparel & Textile Exhibition Malaysia, opened on June 25, 2026. The event serves as a regional hub for manufacturers, suppliers, and buyers across the textile and apparel industry. It was officially launched by Yang Amat Mulia Hajah Sharifah Khatreena Nuraniah Jamalullail and S. Jai Shankar, Deputy CEO of MATRADE. The exhibition spans over 4,212 square metres and hosts 79 companies from six countries. Participants include businesses from Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, and Malaysia. Organised by Kaizer Exhibitions & Conferences Sdn Bhd, the event is endorsed by MATRADE and supported by MyCEB along with key industry partners.
S. Jai Shankar noted Malaysia’s increasing appeal as a global sourcing destination due to shifts in supply chains. H.E. Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury, Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, expressed optimism about stronger trade ties and joint ventures between the two nations. Malaysia’s Apparel and Clothing Accessories sector saw RM18.24 billion in total trade in 2025, an 8.3% rise from the previous year. Exports in the sector grew 6.2% to RM6.88 billion in 2025, with a 27.8% surge recorded in the first five months of 2026. The exhibition aims to further boost these figures through enhanced business connections.
