Solingen's 'Strong Jewish Women' series kicks off with Ruth Bader Ginsburg tribute

The 'Strong Jewish Women' lecture series is returning to the VHS Forum in Solingen. A talk on Ruth Bader Ginsburg will open the programme as an in-person event on 3 September. Admission is free, and attendees must follow COVID-19 safety rules. Ruth Bader Ginsburg was born in 1933 in Brooklyn, New York City. She studied law at Harvard in the 1950s with her husband, where she experienced frequent gender discrimination. Despite these challenges, gender equality became the foundation of her legal career.

In 1993, she made history as the second woman and the first Jewish woman appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court. As a progressive-liberal justice, she dedicated her career to advancing equal rights. In her later years, she gained widespread recognition as a moral figure and pop culture icon, often referred to as 'The Notorious RBG'.

The lecture will take place at Mummstraße 10 at 3:00 PM on Friday. The event will explore her life, career, and lasting impact on law and society. It marks the restart of the lecture series in Solingen. Attendees will learn about her contributions to gender equality and her influence beyond the courtroom.
