China Unveils World's Largest Carbon Fiber Production Lines for High-Tech Industries

China National Building Material Group Co has launched three new high-performance carbon fibre production lines. These are the largest of their kind worldwide in their respective categories. The move marks a significant step for China’s carbon fibre industry towards self-reliance and advanced manufacturing. The three lines cover a range of products, from general-purpose to high-strength and high-modulus carbon fibre. One line produces 1,000 tons per year of SYT70, or T1100-grade, high-strength material. Another has a capacity of 5,000 tons annually for SYT45S-48K carbon fibre, using proprietary technology. The third line can make 600 tons per year of SYM40-grade and above high-modulus carbon fibre.

The production lines support applications in aerospace, new energy, high-end sports equipment, and consumer electronics. Zhongfu Shenying, a major player in the sector, has contributed to the industrialisation of these advanced materials. Over 95% of the core equipment used in the lines is locally sourced. The new facilities strengthen China’s position in high-performance carbon fibre production. They expand domestic supply-chain resilience and cater to diverse high-tech industries. The lines set a benchmark for scale and technological capability in the field.
