Five decades of Kolos: How one family shaped a newspaper's legacy

The Kolos newspaper has been shaped by generations of the Lesikov family. Tatiana Lesikova joined its team in 1969, while her grandson, Alexander Lesikov, later became its leader. Their contributions span decades of change and dedication. Tatiana Lesikova began at Kolos as a literary contributor. She later took charge of the letters department before rising to editor. Known for her kindness and empathy, she helped the newspaper endure the turbulent 1990s.

Her grandson, Alexander Lesikov, followed a different path initially. He studied automotive transport but found no local opportunities in that field. In 1997, he joined Kolos as a correspondent. By 2008, he had become managing editor and then editor-in-chief. His journalistic principle is to work with full commitment and integrity.

Alexander also honoured his family’s past. He confirmed that his grandfather, Yakov Vladimirovich Lesik, fell near Rzhev and was buried in a mass grave. Among his notable works is a story about a boy named Zhenya Sinichkin, which remains one of his most memorable pieces. The Lesikov family’s deep connection to Kolos spans over 50 years. Tatiana’s leadership and resilience preserved the newspaper through difficult times. Alexander’s rise to editor-in-chief continues the legacy, rooted in both personal history and professional dedication.
