Southern Russia sees coffee prices surge in early 2026 amid shifting demand

Coffee prices have risen across southern Russian regions in early 2026. Stavropol Krai, Krasnodar Krai, and Rostov Oblast all saw increases in the cost of a prepared cup. Demand, however, has fallen in some areas due to changing consumer habits and external factors. In Stavropol Krai, the median price for a cup of coffee reached 261 rubles between January and April 2026. This marked a 9% rise from the same period in 2025. A separate report noted a 7% increase for the region, reflecting consistent growth.

Rostov Oblast experienced an even sharper rise. There, the median price climbed to 297 rubles, up 12% year-on-year. Krasnodar Krai saw prices hit 303 rubles, though no percentage change was provided for this region.

Unfavourable weather at the start of 2026 kept customers away from cafes and foodservice venues. Competition among sellers also grew, pushing more people to brew coffee at home. As a result, purchases in Krasnodar Krai dropped by 10% compared to early 2025. The data shows higher coffee prices in all three regions during the first four months of 2026. Demand in Krasnodar Krai fell noticeably, while weather and market trends played a role in the shift. The changes highlight evolving consumer behaviour and rising costs in the foodservice sector.
