DC Privacy Forum 2026 Tackles AI Governance and Digital Regulation Challenges

The Future of Privacy Forum held its third annual DC Privacy Forum on 10 June 2026. The event brought together government officials, academics, civil society groups, and privacy experts to discuss AI governance, digital regulation, and other key technology issues. FPF CEO Jules Polonetsky opened the Forum. FPF Board President Alan Raul then introduced Congressman John Joyce, M.D. as the keynote speaker. Congressman Joyce spoke about his efforts to advance federal privacy legislation, including his leadership as a sponsor of the SECURE Data Act.

The first panel explored global demand for digital data sovereignty. It covered recent developments in the UK, South Korea, the EU, and Latin America. Throughout the day, attendees examined a broad range of topics influencing the future of privacy, AI, and digital governance.

FPF Senior Policy Counsel Jordan Francis gave a lightning talk on enforcement in privacy governance. The final panel addressed personalization and youth online, unveiling a new FPF report on the subject. FPF Vice President for U.S. Policy Matthew Reisman closed the event with remarks thanking all participants, speakers, sponsors, and partners. The Forum highlighted the need for cooperation among diverse stakeholders to tackle emerging challenges in privacy and digital governance. It provided a platform for sharing insights and advancing discussions on critical issues shaping the future of technology and regulation.
