Nvidia secures major AI partnerships in South Korea amid market downturn

Nvidia has unveiled a series of major partnerships in South Korea, targeting AI advancements across multiple industries. The deals involve leading firms like Hyundai Motor Group, SK Hynix, and SK Telecom, with plans to expand AI data centres and robotics technology. The announcements come as the country’s stock market faces a sharp decline, including drops in key tech shares.

The new collaborations span automotive, manufacturing, and cloud computing sectors. Hyundai Motor Group will work with Nvidia on autonomous mobility, robotics, and AI-driven manufacturing. Meanwhile, LG Group will integrate Nvidia’s AI into electronics, mechanical systems, and humanoid robot development.

SK Hynix has signed a long-term agreement to supply advanced memory products for Nvidia’s global AI data centres. The chipmaker remains Nvidia’s largest memory partner, according to CEO Jensen Huang. He also downplayed recent stock selloffs, suggesting the dip presented a buying opportunity for investors. Other partnerships include Naver and Doosan Group adopting Nvidia’s technology for their AI data centres. SK Telecom is set to build a gigawatt-scale AI cloud in South Korea, with the first facility expected by 2027. The announcements follow a turbulent day on South Korea’s Kospi index, which fell by 8.3% on Monday. Samsung shares dropped by 10.2%, while SK Hynix saw a 7.7% decline.

Nvidia’s expanded partnerships in South Korea mark a push into AI infrastructure and robotics. The deals involve some of the country’s largest conglomerates, with projects ranging from autonomous vehicles to cloud computing. Despite market volatility, the company continues to strengthen its position in AI technology development.
