Vietnam's railway sector accelerates modernization at VRT&CONS 2025 in Hanoi

The first international exhibition and conference dedicated to Vietnam’s railway and infrastructure sectors, VRT&CONS 2025, opened in Hanoi on November 12. Organised by the Ministry of Construction and the Vietnam Railway Authority, the event highlighted the country’s push for modern railway development. It brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and international partners for discussions and collaborations. Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Danh Huy addressed the event, noting the sector’s struggles with outdated technology and a dwindling transport market share. He also outlined key goals for Vietnam’s railway industry, focusing on technological upgrades, investment, and supply chain improvements.

Railway Transport JSC (TRV) announced its strategic focus for 2025–2030, prioritising railway information and signalling systems. The company also urged the government to support private investment in railway infrastructure and encourage greater domestic enterprise involvement.

The event featured an industrial exhibition, a series of conferences, and a business-to-business partnership hub. Several Memorandums of Understanding were signed between Vietnamese firms and international partners during the proceedings. German Ambassador Helga Margarete Barth reaffirmed Germany’s readiness to assist Vietnam in developing modern railway systems. VRT&CONS 2025 marked a significant step for Vietnam’s railway sector, fostering new partnerships and investment opportunities. The agreements signed and strategic plans announced aim to address current challenges and drive long-term industry growth. The event underscored Vietnam’s commitment to upgrading its railway infrastructure and technology.
