Vienna's Hottest New Afro-Latin Fusion Spot Blends Three Continents on One Plate

A new Afro-Latin fusion spot has opened in Vienna, offering bold flavours from three continents. Khalifa Dampha, the chef behind Dampha Kitchen, blends Spanish, Latin American, and African dishes into a single menu. The restaurant near me is now serving at Payergasse 10, with a seasonal beachside location opening soon for summer diners.

Dampha Kitchen brings together dishes like pimientos de Padrón, empanadas, and jollof rice under one roof. The menu also features tacos (€11), though these have received mixed feedback due to fragile tortillas and muted meat flavours. Far more popular is the peanut butter chicken (€14), which balances subtle heat with a hint of cassava.

The empanadas (€6.50) stand out with their thick, crispy cornmeal crust and tangy mayo. Another highlight is the jollof rice (€14), served with a fiery spicy mayo that leaves a lasting impression. For dessert, the crema catalana adds an unexpected twist with its aromatic spices.

From May to September, diners can also find Dampha Kitchen at Copa Beach. The main restaurant near me at Payergasse 10 operates from Tuesday to Friday (11 AM–11 PM) and weekends (8 AM–11 PM). More details are available on the restaurant's website, damphakitchen.com.

The restaurant's mix of African, Latin, and Spanish flavours offers something different in Vienna's food scene. With a summer pop-up at Copa Beach and a permanent spot in the city, Dampha Kitchen is expanding its reach. The standout dishes—like the jollof rice and empanadas—are already drawing attention.
