Ukhta Residents Vote to Revitalize Four Key Public Streets by June 12

Residents of Ukhta are voting on which public spaces should receive upgrades as part of a federal initiative. Over 10,000 people have already cast their votes through the Gosuslugi portal. The poll remains open until June 12, giving locals a final chance to influence the city’s development.

Four streets—Oktyabrskaya, Savin, Timinskaya, and Tikhonovich—are in the running for revitalisation. Each project includes new lighting, walkways, and amenities like benches and trash bins, funded under the *Comfortable Urban Environment* programme.

The voting forms part of the Infrastructure for Life national project, launched by President Vladimir Putin. Its aim is to improve urban living standards across Russia. Ukhta’s participation has seen strong engagement, with thousands of residents selecting their preferred locations for upgrades.

Each proposed project outlines specific enhancements. Oktyabrskaya Street would gain paved walkways, landscaped lawns, and modern street lighting. Savin Street’s plans include repaired footpaths, upgraded lighting, and ornamental shrubs, alongside new seating and waste bins. Timinskaya Street’s redesign features improved walkways, decorative lighting, and small architectural details. Tikhonovich Street, meanwhile, would receive new pathways, lighting, and essential street furniture. All four schemes prioritise accessibility and aesthetics. Mayor Marina Metelyova confirmed that last year’s winning projects remain on track for completion by the June 12 deadline. She expressed confidence that the current round of improvements would follow a similar timeline once voting concludes.

The final decision on which streets will be upgraded rests with Ukhta’s residents. Voting closes on June 12, with the selected projects set to transform public spaces in the coming months. The city expects the improvements to enhance daily life for thousands of locals.
