Toblerone dark chocolate recalled in Spain over hidden allergen risks

A batch of Toblerone dark chocolate has been recalled in Spain due to potential allergy risks. The affected product is the 'Dark Chocolate with 10% Honey and Almond Nougat' variety. Authorities have warned consumers with certain allergies to avoid eating it as a precautionary step.

The recall covers two specific batches of the chocolate. The first, batch OOY3154711, has a best-before date of May 20, 2027. The second, batch OOY3155111, expires on June 17, 2027.

The product was initially distributed across nine Spanish regions. These include Andalusia, Aragon, Castile-La Mancha, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Navarre, the Basque Country, and Madrid. No further details have been released about possible wider distribution.

Spain's food safety agency, AESAN, issued the warning. They advised against consumption for anyone allergic or intolerant to almonds, soy, eggs, or milk. The recall follows concerns that these allergens may not have been clearly labelled on the packaging.

Consumers who have purchased the affected Toblerone batches should check the best-before dates. Those with allergies to the listed ingredients are urged to return the product or dispose of it safely. The recall remains in place until further notice.
