The Hound Opens July 17 with British Pub Classics and Boutique Stays
A new pub called The Hound will open its doors on Wednesday 17th July. Located in a central spot, it promises a mix of classic British dishes, craft beers, and live sports screenings throughout its spaces.
The venue will also introduce four boutique guest rooms above the pub in August, adding an overnight stay option for visitors. The Hound’s menu has been crafted by Executive Chef John Sparks and Culinary Director James Knappett. Together, they’ve reimagined British pub favourites with modern twists. Signature starters include Grilled Red Prawns with Chilli & Garlic Gremolata and Focaccia, as well as Salt Cod Croquettes served with Lemon Aioli and Coriander.
For main courses, the kitchen will serve standout dishes like the Highland Wagyu Hound Dog, topped with Ogleshield Cheese, Sauerkraut, and Charcuterie Sauce. Other hero plates feature Chicken & Leek Pie with Mashed Potatoes and Buttered Greens, alongside a Pea & Ticklemore Risotto finished with Mint Oil, Toasted Cashews, and Lemon. On Sundays, diners can enjoy roasts such as Native Rump of Beef with Bone Marrow Gravy and Horseradish Cream, or Shoulder of Lamb with Garlic & Herb Sauce.
The pub’s beer selection highlights established and craft breweries, including South West London’s Sambrook’s Brewery. A special Morhoch Cornish Pilsner, brewed exclusively for The Hound by Cornwall’s Harbour Brewing Co., will also be available. Sports fans can catch live screenings on TVs across the pub and courtyard, while private groups can book 'The Green Room'—a dedicated dining space with a large projector screen.
The four boutique guest rooms, set to open in August, will offer an overnight experience above the pub. Each room is designed to complement the venue’s blend of comfort and style. The Hound will begin welcoming guests from 17th July, with its full offering—including the guest rooms—ready by August. The pub’s mix of elevated British food, craft beers, and sports screenings aims to create a lively yet relaxed setting for both locals and visitors. Bookings for dining and stays will open alongside the launch.
