Hundreds of high school students came together at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion in Wisconsin for St. Carlo Youth Day. The event aimed to inspire young people in their faith while honouring the newly canonised St. Carlo Acutis. For the first time since the youth days began, a relic of the saint was displayed for veneration.
The gathering drew around 600 teenagers to the only Church-approved Marian apparition site in the US. They took part in talks, games, Eucharistic adoration, and a candlelit procession. A first-class relic—a lock of St. Carlo's hair—was presented during the day's activities.
This marked the shrine's first youth event since Carlo Acutis was declared a saint in September 2020. Organisers designed the day to show young people that holiness is within reach, even in today's world. The programme also included Mass, rosary prayers, and bilingual sessions to welcome Spanish-speaking participants, who made up nearly 40% of last year's attendees.
The shrine's youth days take St. Carlo as a model, encouraging teens to stay rooted in faith as they face modern challenges. His story serves as proof that young people can live lives of extraordinary virtue. The event's theme focused on giving them strength to 'reach their true home' in God.
The day closed with a message of hope for the next generation. By bringing together prayer, learning, and community, the shrine reinforced its mission to guide young Catholics. The presence of St. Carlo's relic added a tangible connection to his example of faith.
