Shemroon Cafe Brings Middle Eastern Flavors to Orinda's Theatre Square
A new Middle Eastern-inspired café, Shemroon Cafe, has opened in Orinda's Theatre Square. It took over the space previously occupied by Starbucks and has been serving customers for around five weeks. The spot offers a mix of traditional Middle Eastern treats and familiar café favourites.
The café opens early at 6am, catering to those who start their day before dawn. Alongside classic pastries, it serves Middle Eastern sweets like baklava and rosewater cream puffs. One customer praised both the Turkish coffee and the delicate cream puff, calling them standout choices.
Shemroon's menu also features Turkish coffee spiced with cardamom, known for its bold flavour. Persian tea, a black tea lightly scented with rose water, is served in traditional glass cups. The wide selection has left visitors eager to return and sample more dishes.
The café fills a gap in Orinda after Starbucks closed its doors in the same location. With its early opening hours and unique Middle Eastern offerings, it provides a fresh option for locals. So far, customers have responded positively to its drinks and desserts.
