Russia's Magadan Region Offers Cash Incentives for Rural Cultural Workers
The Magadan Region has opened 19 new positions under the federal initiative Zemsky Cultural Worker. This programme encourages specialists in creative fields to relocate to rural areas. Successful candidates will receive financial support upon moving to small towns.
The scheme targets Russian citizens aged 55 or younger with vocational or higher education. It also welcomes 2026 graduates returning to their hometowns. Applications will run from 15 April to 15 July 2026.
Those selected will get a one-time payment of 1 million rubles, or 2 million in certain regions. The goal is to fill cultural roles in settlements with fewer than 50,000 residents. The Magadan Regional Ministry of Culture and Tourism is managing the process.
In 2025, the region already hired eight rural specialists through the same programme. New arrivals included teachers, accompanists, and a cultural centre director from different parts of Russia.
The initiative continues to attract professionals to rural communities. With 19 vacancies now available, the region aims to strengthen local cultural services. Officials have not yet released applicant numbers for the upcoming cycle.
