Once Upon a Farm soars 20% in NYSE debut after organic food boom

Once Upon a Farm, a leading producer of organic baby and children's food, has made its debut on the New York Stock Exchange. The company's shares, listed under the ticker OFRM, climbed by 20% on their first trading day. Founded in 2015, the brand has quickly grown into a major player in the US market, backed by celebrity support and a focus on minimally processed foods.

The company began in 2015 when Cassandra Curtis and Ari Raz launched it as a small organic food brand. In 2017, actress Jennifer Garner and former Annie's Homegrown CEO John Foraker joined as co-founders, bringing greater visibility and business expertise. Foraker now serves as CEO, while Garner remains on the board of directors.

Over the past five years, Once Upon a Farm has expanded rapidly. Its market share in the US organic baby and kids food sector rose from around 5% in 2021 to roughly 15% by 2025. This growth came through partnerships with major retailers like Whole Foods and Target, celebrity endorsements, and a focus on cold-pressure processing technology. Revenue reached $156.8 million in 2024, a 66% jump from the previous year.

Despite strong sales, the company's losses widened from $17.6 million to $23.8 million in 2024. The IPO arrives as public concern over heavily processed foods grows, aligning with the brand's emphasis on fresh, organic products. Funds raised from the offering will go toward debt repayment, new equipment, and general operations.

The company's product line includes cold-pressed, refrigerated baby foods and kids' snacks. While it remains behind industry leaders like Beech-Nut and Happy Baby, it has outperformed smaller competitors such as Serenity Kids through innovation and direct-to-consumer sales.

The successful IPO marks a new phase for Once Upon a Farm. With proceeds earmarked for expansion and debt reduction, the company aims to strengthen its position in the organic food market. Its focus on minimally processed products continues to resonate with health-conscious consumers.
