NEO Battery Materials powers Zio Robot's autonomous mobile workers with advanced lithium-ion cells

NEO Battery Materials Ltd. has partnered with Zio Robot Co., Ltd. to integrate its high-energy lithium-ion battery cells into Zio's Mobile Worker (MW) series of autonomous mobile robots. The collaboration aims to improve battery performance for Zio's MW robots, which currently use Chinese-made cells. NEO's technology focuses on enhancing energy density and high-rate discharge capability to meet the heavy demands of Zio's platforms, which handle payloads of up to 6,000 kilograms. Zio's MW series features a modular design, allowing units to connect or disconnect as needed, reducing initial costs and supporting customization for different industries. Dr. Tae Hun Kang, Zio's CEO, believes NEO's batteries will give the robots an edge in logistics and pave the way for even higher-capacity models. Spencer Huh, NEO's President and CEO, views the partnership as an opportunity to expand into physical AI applications and cater to the growing demand for non-Chinese battery solutions in Western and allied robotics markets. The partnership will deliver prototype battery systems to Zio's collaborators, starting with Samsung Electronics, to enhance payload capacity and extend operational time for Zio's autonomous robots. Both companies aim to meet the rising need for specialized, high-performance battery solutions outside China.
