Nearly 50 businesses fail hygiene checks in 2025 district report
The district’s food safety inspectors have released their latest findings on hygiene compliance. In 2025, nearly 50 businesses failed to meet health and hygiene standards. The report also covers early 2026 figures, showing ongoing enforcement efforts across 243 establishments. In 2025, inspectors carried out 240 routine checks, 12 complaint-based inspections, and 22 follow-up visits. They identified 47 establishments breaking hygiene or health protection rules. These violations led to 47 formal orders for corrective action, each followed by a repeat inspection.
The most common issues involved general operational hygiene, with 257 breaches recorded over 2025 and early 2026. Another 89 infractions related to hygiene management and internal quality controls were also logged. Despite the high number of violations, the team exceeded their risk-based inspection target by more than 100 percent. The first three months of 2026 saw 50 routine checks, 3 complaint-driven inspections, and 7 follow-up visits. Fifteen businesses were found in violation during this period. Of the 45 inspections planned for the quarter, only 3 remain incomplete.
The district’s monitoring continues to uncover hygiene failures across its food service sector. With 243 establishments under supervision, inspectors remain active in both routine and complaint-based checks. Enforcement actions, including corrective orders and follow-ups, remain a key part of the process.
