Mom's Pre-Mother's Day Escape to Nashville Becomes a Tradition

A mother of a one-year-old has marked Mother’s Day in her own way—by taking a short break before the celebrations. For the second year running, she spent the Saturday before the holiday away from home. This time, she travelled to Nashville for a three-day getaway with a friend.

The trip included live music, fine dining, and a spa visit, all before returning to her family for the main event. Nashville was picked for its mix of culture, food, and walkable attractions. The author and her friend stayed at Caption by Hyatt Downtown Nashville, a hotel offering a special 'Mom and Me Weekend' package for Mother’s Day travellers.

Their first stop was the 1865 Club, a historic venue with live performances. They also explored the National Museum of African American Music and The Spot by Dre and Snoop, a themed bar. For dining, they chose 888 Nashville, a Japanese restaurant and vinyl lounge, and Ophelia’s Pizza + Bar.

A highlight of the trip was a spa session at R+R Wellness at Grand Hyatt Nashville. The relaxation came just before heading back home to spend Mother’s Day with her son, born in 2023. The trip ended with the author refreshed and ready to celebrate with her family. She has now made it a tradition to take a short pre-Mother’s Day break, balancing personal time with family life. Next year, she may well choose another destination for the same quiet escape.
