Maryland's Beloved Snoball Stand Keeps Sweet Traditions Alive for 40 Years

A small snoball stand in Randallstown, Maryland, has been serving up sweet treats for nearly 40 years. The Original Hawaiian Island Snoball, run by owner Christy, remains a beloved stop along Liberty Road, drawing loyal customers from miles around. The stand first opened in 1985, founded by Christy’s parents. Two years later, it moved to its current spot at 10636 Liberty Road, where it has stayed ever since. Christy grew up in the building and started helping out when she was just eight years old.

Today, the stand operates seven days a week, from noon until 9 p.m., and only accepts cash. Each snoball begins with a 10-pound block of ice, shaved into soft flakes by a vintage machine. The menu offers around 100 homemade flavours, with Egg Custard as the top seller. Customers can also enjoy snoballs with ice cream, like the Sno Swirl or Sno Shake. The most popular topping remains marshmallow. One regular even travels from Frederick once a week just to visit the stand.

The Original Hawaiian Island Snoball continues to attract fans with its nostalgic charm and wide variety of flavours. Open daily and cash-only, the stand stays true to its roots while keeping customers coming back for more.
