Lilmister P turns Iztapalapa's streets into a global art movement
Lilmister P, a muralist and designer from Iztapalapa in Mexico City, has made a name for himself through bold art and cultural storytelling. Known for his 'Hypervector' expressionist style, he blends Mexican heritage with contemporary design. His work now reaches global audiences, from local streets to high-profile collaborations. Born and raised in Iztapalapa, one of Mexico City’s most densely populated yet often overlooked neighbourhoods, Lilmister P draws inspiration from its vibrant but underrepresented culture. He frequently transforms public walls into large-scale murals, weaving in Mexican history and traditions. His goal is to make art accessible to everyone, seeing the streets as the best place to share his creations.
In October 2022, he gained wider attention by designing custom lucha libre masks for F1 drivers Carlos Sainz and Alexander Albon during the Mexico Grand Prix. The masks, a signature element of his own artistic identity, reflect his deep connection to Mexican wrestling culture. Beyond murals, he founded Hechizas, a clothing and lifestyle brand that reimagines the bootleg aesthetic found in local flea markets. Lilmister P has also worked with major brands like UnderArmour, Jordan Brand, and Formula 1. His upcoming projects include a clothing line dedicated to the EZLN, or Zapatista Movement, and a new mural in Iztapalapa for Viacrucis. Through these efforts, he continues to merge street art with activism and cultural pride.
Lilmister P’s work bridges local traditions and global platforms, from Iztapalapa’s walls to international brand partnerships. His upcoming EZLN-inspired collection and Viacrucis mural will further highlight his commitment to accessible, culturally rooted art. The artist remains a defining voice in Mexico City’s ever-evolving creative scene.
