Krasnodar's May holidays sizzle with barbecue traditions and spending trends

Barbecue season is heating up in Krasnodar as the May holidays approach. A new survey reveals how residents plan to celebrate, with meat preferences, budgets, and social habits shaping the traditions. Nearly a quarter of locals will fire up their grills, with 23% intending to cook meat themselves. Another 4% will enjoy barbecues at the homes of friends or relatives. Meanwhile, 9% plan to both host and attend outdoor gatherings.

Age plays a role in participation. Those under 35 are more likely to keep the tradition alive, while residents over 45 show greater enthusiasm for grilling. Families with children are the most engaged, making barbecues a central part of their holiday plans.

Budget-wise, the average spend per person reaches 3,300 rubles. This covers meat, vegetables, and drinks. Pork kebabs top the menu at 45%, followed by mixed-meat skewers (25%) and chicken (13%).

Not everyone is joining in, though. A significant 44% of Krasnodar residents will skip barbecue picnics entirely. Men show more interest in grilling than women, while households earning over 150,000 rubles a month are the most active in hosting and attending events. The May holidays will see a mix of grilling habits across Krasnodar. While pork remains the top choice, spending and participation vary by age, income, and family status. For many, barbecues will be a key part of the celebrations.
