Khufu's Crowned Best Restaurant in the Middle East and North Africa for 2026

Khufu's in Egypt has been named the best restaurant in the Middle East and North Africa for 2026. The award marks the first time an Egyptian eatery has topped the regional list, showcasing its modern take on traditional Nile Delta flavours. The ceremony took place in Abu Dhabi, highlighting the city's growing role in the culinary world.

The 2026 rankings celebrated a mix of established names and rising stars. Dubai restaurants dominated the top spots, with Kinoya at No.2, Tresind Studio at No.3, and Orfali Bros at No.4. Beirut's Beihouse secured fifth place, reinforcing Lebanon's strong presence in the region's dining scene.

Egypt enjoyed a standout year, with Khufu's leading the way. The restaurant blends ancient Egyptian ingredients—Nilfisch like Bagrus bajad, tamarind, cumin, and fennel—into contemporary dishes. Signature plates include grilled Nile perch with tamarind glaze and updated versions of koshari with local lentils. Other Egyptian entries, such as Reif Kushiyaki Cairo (No.20) and Kazoku (No.25), also gained recognition.

The United Arab Emirates led overall, claiming 25 spots on the list. Dubai's Sufret Maryam (No.7), Jun's (No.8), and Manā;o (No.9) joined the top ten. Abu Dhabi's own Marmellata Bakery (No.16) and Niri (No.38) reflected the capital's expanding food reputation. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia's Kuuru (No.6) was named the country's best restaurant for 2026.

Lebanon's culinary resilience shone through with three entries: Beihouse (No.5), Em Sherif (No.13), and Buco (No.39). The list underscored the region's diverse flavours, from refined fusion to time-honoured recipes.

Khufu's victory puts Egyptian cuisine on the regional map, blending heritage with innovation. The rankings also confirm the UAE's dominance and Saudi Arabia's growing influence in fine dining. With 50 restaurants recognised, the 2026 list reflects the Middle East and North Africa's rich and evolving food culture.
