Hanau's vibrant cultural week kicks off with art, history and music

Hanau is set to host a busy week of cultural events from Wednesday, February 25, to Tuesday, March 3. Visitors can explore exhibitions, live performances, and community activities across the city. A yearly planner listing all events is also available for download online.

The week kicks off with Beats & Bubbles, a DJ event at Stadthof Hanau on Saturday, February 29, from 2 PM to 6 PM. Later that day, Volunteer Speed-Dating takes place at the same venue, connecting people with local initiatives.

On Sunday, March 1, the Documentation Center on Hanau's military history opens from 2 PM to 5 PM. Meanwhile, Museum Schloss Steinheim hosts The Limes: A Border That Connects, featuring a Family Cooking Extravaganza that day.

Tuesday, March 3, sees two major openings. The Historisches Museum Schloss Philippsruhe launches its new permanent exhibition, Hanau's New Town. At the same time, the Goldschmiedehaus presents a Jewelry Exhibition by Sabine Themme-Bauer, winner of the 12th Hanau Jewelry Award.

Elsewhere, Stadthof Hanau continues its pop-art showcase, House of BANKSY Hanau – An Unauthorized Exhibition, displaying over 150 works by the famous street artist. The city's Kultur auf den Hanauer Friedhöfen series also announces three 2026 events: a Midwood Train concert (March 27), a reading by Tim Frühling (May 8), and a Bohème quartet performance (September 20). The series is supported by local sponsors, including Sparkasse Hanau, Stadtwerke Hanau, and Hesse's Zukunft Innenstadt program.
