Gut Clinic raises $1M to revolutionize gastroenterology and metabolic care in India
Gut Clinic, a healthcare platform focused on gastroenterology, liver, and metabolic care, has secured $1 million in seed funding. The investment comes from a group of 15 backers, including experienced healthcare professionals and industry leaders. Founder Dr. Akshat Kumar plans to use the funds to expand services and improve patient care across India.
The startup was launched by US-certified physician Dr. Akshat Kumar to merge clinical expertise with technology-driven health insurance. Its model prioritises outpatient care while also offering day-care and hospital-based support. The goal is to better manage chronic and preventive conditions outside emergency settings.
The newly raised capital will help Gut Clinic open more centres and enhance diagnostic tools. Expansion plans include Chandigarh, Punjab, and other northern regions, with over 20 new locations targeted in the near future. Additionally, 10 more clinics are set to launch in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, and Gujarat.
Investors in this round include Dr. Amitoj Singh, Dr. Aman Rajpal, Ankur Kathuria, Juhi Bhatnagar, and Deepak Garg. Dr. Kumar emphasised that the funding will strengthen clinical systems to ensure consistent, high-quality health insurance at scale. The platform aims to tap into India's $197 billion preventive healthcare market by improving patient outcomes and care experiences.
With fresh funding and a clear expansion strategy, Gut Clinic is set to grow its presence in key Indian states. The investment will support new centres, better diagnostics, and a stronger clinical network. The startup's focus remains on delivering scalable, technology-backed care for chronic and preventive conditions.
