Go Asia recalls Mu-Err mushrooms over salmonella contamination risk
Go Asia has recalled several varieties of its Mu-Err mushrooms after salmonella contamination was detected. The affected products include 'Black Fungus', 'White-Black Fungus Slice', and 'Mini Black Fungus' with a best-before date of November 28, 2027. Customers in multiple German states are advised to check their purchases.
The recall follows a warning from the food safety portal lebensmittelwarnung.de, which found salmonella in a tested sample. The issue stems from unclear packaging instructions, as the mushrooms were not labelled with a requirement for thorough cooking before eating.
The contaminated products were sold in at least five federal states: Bayern, Baden-Württemberg, Rheinland-Pfalz, Sachsen, and Nordrhein-Westfalen. Consuming salmonella-tainted food can lead to symptoms such as diarrhoea, stomach cramps, vomiting, and a mild fever. Infants, young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems face a higher risk of severe illness. Go Asia has urged customers to return the recalled mushrooms to any of its stores for a full refund. The company has not specified exact sales periods or locations beyond the affected states.
The recall covers three mushroom varieties with a best-before date of November 28, 2027. Shoppers in the impacted regions are encouraged to check their purchases and return any affected products. A full refund is available at all Go Asia locations.
