Germany Faces Wave of Food Recalls in Early 2026 Over Health Risks

A series of food recalls has taken place across Germany in early 2026. Several well-known brands pulled products from shelves due to potential health risks. Consumers have been advised to check their purchases carefully.

In January and February 2026, four major recalls were announced. Gustoland GmbH withdrew its Ja! Delikatess-Salami with best-before dates of 28 February and 1 March 2026. Icewind Produktions und Vertriebsgesellschaft also recalled Cucina Nobile Gorgonzola dolce sold at Aldi Nord, marked with a best-before date of 7 February 2026.

Danone followed by removing certain batches of Aptamil baby formula, including those with a best-before date of 10 November 2026. Meanwhile, Interfood Lebensmittelgroßhandel recalled Mauri Taleggio Bontalegrio DOP cheese with best-before dates between 10 and 22 February 2026.

Another product, distributed nationwide, was flagged for possible bacterial contamination. Affected packages carry best-before dates of 13 February 2027, 10 March 2027, and 15 April 2027. Consumers who bought any of these items may experience nausea, vomiting, or diarrhoea if the product is eaten.

Stores have been instructed to accept returns of the recalled items. Shoppers are encouraged to bring back any affected products for a refund or replacement.

The recalls cover a range of products, from baby formula to cheeses and cured meats. Shoppers should verify best-before dates and return any listed items immediately. Further updates may be provided if additional batches are found to be unsafe.
