Fürth's €6,000 Boost: Strengthening Youth Drug Prevention Across the Region

A €6,000 donation from the Lions Club Fürth will boost drug prevention efforts in the region. The funds were officially handed over at the Fürth District Office, with local leaders and specialists in attendance. The money will support expanded programmes aimed at keeping young people safe from addiction.

The campaign, titled Together Against Drugs – Empowered, Not Addicted, brings together the city and district of Fürth. Their goal is to strengthen healthy development among young people before addiction can take hold. Schools, parents, clubs, and authorities will all play a role in the initiative.

The donation splits evenly, with €3,000 each going to the city and district. These funds will add new components to existing prevention work, such as school projects, youth centre activities, parent information evenings, and professional training. The effort builds on proven programmes already in place, including 3x3, Cannabis – Quo Vadis?, and support from Caritas and Diakonie counselling services.

At the press event, Deputy Mayor Markus Braun joined Lions Club President Dragana Viskovic and Past President Ingrid Langhammer-Mend. Also present were social education specialists Tansu Shaw and Vivian Knöll, Florian Friedrich of the OTTO Youth Culture Center, and Sebastian Fischer, Head of Youth Services. The campaign is coordinated by the Fürth Youth Protection Office, the District Office's Health Promotion Unit, and the local Criminal Police.

The additional funding will widen the reach of drug prevention in Fürth. Existing projects will grow, and new initiatives will launch in schools, youth centres, and community spaces. Organisers aim to create a stronger support network for young people across the region.
