Firlefranz Pleasure Garden Opens in Fulda with Food, Games, and Relaxation
A new family-friendly pleasure garden called Firlefranz is set to open at Fulda's Environmental Center on May 1, 2026. The space will offer food, games, and a relaxed outdoor setting as part of the centre's redesigned grounds. Nearby, the MiniNaturGolf miniature golf course will also welcome visitors shortly after, with a full public launch planned for Hessentag festival in June.
Firlefranz will operate from early May until the end of October. During the week, it will be open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:00 PM to 9:30 PM, with extended hours from 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Guests can enjoy local specialties like Rhön sheet cake, Reinholz coffee, freshly tapped beer, and bratwurst.
The garden will provide picnic blankets and a range of games, including soccer, badminton, and Viking chess. The Firlefranz team will also offer club and ball rentals for visitors. The project is led by Paul Pawlowski-Rothenbücher and Christoph Jestaedt, who have partnered with the Environmental Center to create a welcoming space for families. Just a short distance away, the MiniNaturGolf course will open in stages. A preview launch is scheduled for May 9, with the full course available by June 12, coinciding with the Hessentag festival. The Environmental Center's outdoor area has been redesigned for the State Garden Show, providing an ideal backdrop for both attractions. Marion Gottschalk, managing director of the Environmental Center, has expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration. The partnership aims to enhance the site's appeal as a leisure destination for locals and tourists alike.
Firlefranz and MiniNaturGolf will add new options for outdoor dining and recreation in Fulda. The pleasure garden's seasonal opening and the golf course's full launch in June are expected to draw visitors throughout the summer and autumn. Both projects build on the Environmental Center's redeveloped grounds, offering activities for all ages.
