Eisbazar Brings Handmade Gelato to Vienna's Praterstraße

A new artisanal ice cream shop has arrived on Praterstraße in Leopoldstadt. Eisbazar, run by 33-year-old Farhud Farassati, opened its first permanent location at number 12 after three successful seasons as a market stall at Brunnenmarkt. The shop now serves freshly made gelato daily in a minimalist, small-scale space. Eisbazar crafts its ice cream on site every day using high-quality ingredients. The menu includes seven core flavours, with four dairy-based and four vegan choices, plus a weekly rotating special. Popular options include pistachio—made with 100% pistachio kernels—and a rich chocolate sorbet that balances depth without bitterness.

Pricing starts at €2.90 for a single scoop and €5.40 for two. Currently, the shop operates from Wednesday to Sunday, 1–7 PM, but plans to expand to six days a week in April. Future upgrades will include a coffee machine for affogato and more seating for customers. The opening adds to Praterstraße's growing reputation as a food lover's destination. Farassati's move from a seasonal stall to a fixed workshop reflects the demand for handmade, premium ice cream in the area.

Eisbazar now offers Leopoldstadt residents and visitors a new spot for artisanal gelato. With plans for extended hours and a coffee service, the shop aims to become a regular stop in Vienna's vibrant food scene. The focus remains on fresh, small-batch production with standout ingredients like saffron and whole pistachios.
