dm recalls spread due to incorrect content - dm recalls tomato-feta spread over hidden cashew allergy risk

German drugstore chain dm has recalled a batch of its tomato-feta spread due to a packaging error. The mislabeled product contains undeclared cashews, posing a risk to allergy sufferers. Customers with cashew allergies are advised to return the affected jars immediately.

The recall affects dmBio Dried Tomato & Feta Gourmet Spread with a best-before date of 4 June 2027. Some jars were mistakenly filled with Cashew Cream Spread with Dried Tomato & Pine Nuts, which contains cashews—a known allergen not listed on the label.

The affected jars can be identified by their Nabio lids. While the mispackaged product is safe for those without cashew allergies, it could trigger severe reactions in sensitive individuals. The manufacturer responsible for the error has not been named in public reports.

dm has urged customers with cashew allergies or intolerances to avoid consuming the spread. Instead, they should return it to any dm store for a refund or replacement.

The recall only applies to jars with the specified best-before date and Nabio lids. Consumers without cashew allergies face no health risks from the product. dm has not yet announced further steps beyond the return process.
