Braunschweig's historic Mumme beer returns after years of absence

Braunschweig’s beloved Mumme beer is making a local comeback after years away. The historic drink, once produced by H. Nettelbeck KG, will now be brewed in the city again. Fans can also enjoy Mumme-themed treats, including a special ice cream priced at €2.50 on May 16. The revival follows the closure of the original Mumme Brewery, H. Nettelbeck KG. Andreas Beinhorn has now partnered with National Jürgens Brewery to restart production. The beer will be served on tap at Friedrich der II. in the Magniviertel, as well as at events like Stadtfrühling and mummegenussmeile.

On May 16, the Touristinfo office at Kleine Burg 14 will host a dedicated Mumme action day. Visitors can find a full range of Mumme products there, including the newly reintroduced beer. The office will also offer Mumme ice cream for €2.50 as part of the celebrations. Despite the brewery’s closure, the city has ensured Mumme remains available in different forms. The drink’s return to local production marks a key moment for Braunschweig’s brewing tradition.

Mumme beer will once again be brewed and served in Braunschweig. The drink’s return includes tap offerings, event appearances, and a special action day. Residents and tourists alike can now enjoy the historic beverage and its related products across the city.
