Berta Reopens in Berlin with a Fusion of Israeli and German Flavors

Berta, a new restaurant in Berlin, has reopened its doors just in time for the Berlinale film festival. The venue blends Israeli flavours with German traditions, creating a fresh take on the city's dining culture. Chef Assaf Granit leads the kitchen, drawing inspiration from his family's heritage and Eastern European roots. The restaurant is part of the JLM Group, an international hospitality collective founded by Granit, Uri Navon, and Tomer Lanzman. With over 20 locations across five countries, the group served nearly one million guests in 2023 alone.

Berta's menu tells a personal story—each dish honours the life of its namesake, a Berlin-born woman who later settled in Tel Aviv. Recipes also pay tribute to Granit's grandmother, weaving together memories and innovation. Signature plates include Polenta Machneyuda, Lea's Chicken Livers, and Schnitzel and Gretel, alongside cocktails like the Shabour and Jerusalem Espresso Martini. Beyond food, the space offers a lively mix of craft drinks and music. Guests are invited to explore a sensory journey of culture, history, and creativity. The timing of the reopening aligns with the Berlinale, positioning Berta as a gathering spot for filmmakers and food lovers alike.

Berta's arrival adds a new layer to Berlin's culinary landscape. The restaurant's fusion of Israeli and German influences, paired with its vibrant atmosphere, sets it apart. As part of the JLM Group's growing portfolio, it continues the collective's mission to redefine hospitality through storytelling and shared experiences.
