Berlin's Tempelhofer Feld to Host a New Summer Garden by 2026
A new seasonal dining space is coming to Tempelhofer Feld. Tempelhof Projekt GmbH has opened a tender for an open-air summer garden in front of the historic THF TOWER. The project will run during the summers of 2026 and 2027, with applications due by March 15, 2026.
The planned summer garden will operate from June to September in both years. Setup begins on June 1, 2026, with the venue required to open no later than June 19. Minimum opening hours are set for Wednesday to Friday, 5 PM to 10 PM, and weekends from 2 PM onward.
Operators must demonstrate experience and submit a concept that aligns with the site's historic architecture. The proposal should also ensure economic sustainability and high-quality dining. This follows previous temporary projects, such as the 2023/2024 call for summer gardens, which attracted 42 applications by the November 30, 2023 deadline.
Tempelhofer Feld remains a focal point for public debate in Berlin. The new summer garden joins other short-term uses along the field's edges, aiming to create an open gathering space that fits with existing infrastructure.
The tender reflects ongoing efforts to activate Tempelhofer Feld's periphery while balancing public interests. Successful applicants will run the summer garden for two seasons, starting in mid-2026. The project adds to the field's evolving role as a space for temporary cultural and social activities.
