Bergisch Gladbach is set to celebrate International Women's Day 2026 with a wide-ranging programme of events near me. Organised by Judith Klaßen, the town's Equal Opportunity Officer, the art activities will run from early March, featuring exhibitions, performances, and guided tours across multiple venues.
The celebrations begin on March 1 at the adult education centre (Volkshochschule), where an opening exhibition will showcase works by seven young artists from Atelier KLKS. Their pieces explore themes of equality and self-determination, forming part of the broader 'Mothers of the Basic Law and Their Daughters' exhibition. This display honours four women instrumental in drafting Germany's 1949 constitution.
That same evening, Villa Zanders Art Museum will host two events. A guided tour will delve into the influence of women within the Zanders family and their business legacy. Later, a 'Ladies' Night' will offer attendees a guided tour of the museum followed by a complimentary drink.
At Bensberg Town Hall, a cabaret performance by Claudia Thiel and Anke Brausch will take place on March 1. Meanwhile, the Bergisch Gladbach City Library will present a media exhibition, 'Strength Is Female. Courage Is Too.', running from March 1 to 21. The programme continues on March 8 with further events coordinated by the Equal Opportunity Office, the library, and participating cultural institutions.
The events near me mark a collaborative effort to highlight women's historical and contemporary contributions. From art and law to business and culture, the programme offers multiple ways for the community to engage with themes of gender equality. All activities are open to the public, with details available through local organisers.
