Battlefield 6's major patch delayed—here's what's changing and what's not
Battlefield 6's first major patch has been delayed until 28 October. Originally set for 3 February 2026, the update was pushed back after Season 1 was extended and Season 2 was postponed to 17 February 2026. The extra time will allow for more testing and player feedback before release.
The patch will tweak weapon bloom, movement mechanics, and sunlight effects. However, long-awaited changes to in-game challenges will not arrive in this update—despite growing frustration among players.
Players have criticised many of Battlefield 6's challenges as overly difficult or poorly designed. Some tasks, like the Class Assignment - Assault 1, currently demand 30 kills but will soon drop to just 3. Others, such as the Engineer Expert 3 challenge, now require repairing 6,000 vehicle HP—a number that will be cut to 1,000 in a future update.
The Weapon Assignment - Deadeye 2 challenge is also being adjusted. Instead of 150 headshots, players will only need 5, with distance requirements relaxed later. These changes aim to make progression faster and less frustrating.
Battlefield Studios has acknowledged the issues, stating they are working to simplify challenges. Yet, despite the urgency, players must wait longer for these fixes. The first round of tweaks will not appear in the Season 1 patch, leaving some of the most criticised challenges untouched for now.
The upcoming patch brings technical improvements but leaves challenge adjustments for later. When implemented, the changes will significantly reduce grind for tasks like headshots and vehicle repairs. Players will still need to wait, however, as the studio continues refining the game based on feedback.
